The ESP8266 WeMos-D1R2 Programming Using The Software / IDE Arduino
In this Instructable I will guide you through the steps necessary to install, configure and program the WeMos-D1R2 jury using the Arduino IDE.
WeMos-D1R2 is an ESP8266-12 microprocessor-enabled WiFi unit for an Arduino-UNO footprint. This means that the jury appears and works (in most cases) as a UNO. Apparently several of the shields, sensors and output devices that are manufactured for the Arduino platform will work on the WeMos-D1R2 with the added benefit of builtin WiFi.
There are two WeMos boards on the market. If you are not careful you will end up with a board of D1, which is an older version. You must verify that you have the current version of the WeMos-D1R2 Board of Directors. I bought my WeMos-D1R2 from Banggood , I think it's a Hong Kong based online retailer. The quality of the product is good and has a short delivery time, about two weeks in the United States. They carry the actual WeMos-D1R2. There are several older WeMos-D1 models sold as WeMos-D1R2 to unsuspecting customers by several other vendors.
There you will find several similarities between this Instructable and my previous – the ESP8266-12f programming using the Arduino / IDE software due to the fact that the ESP8266-12 is the WeMos-D1R2 Board Foundation. In some cases, I copied and pasted the complete steps.
